West Papua New Guinea

West Papua New Guinea – On August 15, 1962, Indonesia and Netherland signed New York Settlement facilitated by the United Nations. In accordance with the settlement, Dutch handed over West Irian to the United Nations. Because the end result, United Nations Non permanent Government Authority  (UNTEA) was shaped.

The handover of  West Irian from the Netherlands to UNTEA formally run on October 1, 1962. Afterwards, on December 31, 1962, the Dutch flag in West Irian was changed by Indonesian flag and the UN (UNTEA) flag alongside with it.

The UN Secretary-Common got here to Jakarta and Jayapura to make clear that the UN would assure the method of transferring UNTEA authority to the Indonesian Authorities in February 1963. Slowly, Dutch’s folks and authorities left the land of West Irian. And on March 1, 1963, virtually all positions within the UNTEA authorities have been within the hand of Indonesia West Papua New Guinea

Three days later, Could 4, 1963, Soekarno arrived at Kota Baru, Jayapura, West Irian which was beforehand named Hollandia. Soekarno’s speech:

“…. And, pals, what’s it that known as Indonesia? What’s
referred to as Indonesia is your complete archipelago between Sabang and
Merauke. What known as Indonesia is what was previously referred to
because the Dutch East Indies. What is supposed by Indonesia is what the
Dutch referred to as Nederlands Indië, that whole archipelago between
Sabang and Merauke which consists of 1000’s of islands.
That’s what known as Indonesia”

Moreover, in keeping with  the proclamation of The Republic of Indonesia which was held on August 17th, 1945, it may be inferred that Indonesia lined the territories colonized by Netherland. That’s the whole archipelago between Sabang and Merauke. These evidences point out that West Irian is already part of Indonesia since then and even earlier than the proclamation West Papua New Guinea
